Een preview is een impressie van een bepaald spel of uitbreiding nog voor de release, vaak verkregen op exclusieve hands-on-evenementen of of gamebeursen zoals gamescom of EA Play. Na de release volgt vaak nog een uitgebreidere review.

Sims 3 IGN preview: Riverview en Store

IGN heeft op deze pagina een nieuwe preview van Sims 3 online gezet met informatie over de Riverview buurt en de Sims 3 Store.

One thing that you won’t need to spend money on is Riverview, the town that’s only available once you register. After you’ve registered, you go to the Web site and download Riverview; that process launches The Sims 3 Game Launcher, the utility that lets you manage all of your downloaded content. Riverview will show up in the Downloads section. You then select it and click on install to have it installed into your game. Now you can play in Riverview. After that, Riverview shows up in your Installed Content section, where you can uninstall it and any other content that you’ve downloaded and installed from the Web site. So if you don’t like a sim that you’ve downloaded from The Exchange, this is where you go to get rid of him or her.

Riverview offers up its own adventures to uncover. On our first runaround the town we discovered an abandoned and boarded up mine entrance on the outskirts as town, as well as a fish farm that’s perfect if your sims like to go fishing. The miniature Stonehenge on a small island in the river is perfect to get away from everything, though we haven’t figured out how to interact with it yet; is it a place for pagan rituals or just a nice spot for sims to make out?

Vannacht kwam ik zappend een aflevering tegen van het RTL games programma Gamerush: zij hebben in aflevering 15, die je op deze pagina kunt bekijken, een item over de evolutie van De Sims.

Bovendien vindt je op deze pagina een interview met Sims 3 associate producer MJ Chun.

Een computertaal draait om nullen en om enen. Het is ja of nee, en daar is geen gulden tussenweg in te vinden. Dus wanneer ik boos ben op jou, dan word jij verdrietig. Maar is een Sim in De Sims 3 in staat om te vergeven? Wanneer ik boos word, kan jij dan denken ‘Hij meent het niet zo’?

Ja. Ik zou jou kunnen beledigen door te zeggen dat je moeder een lama is. Onze relatie wordt dan iets negatiever, maar vervolgens kan ik je een grapje vertellen waardoor de relatie weer wat positiever wordt. Daarnaast is het natuurlijk zo dat een goede relatie minder gevoelig is voor negatieve uitingen. Wanneer wij hele goede vrienden zijn, dan kan ik je best beledigen zonder dat daar echt consequenties aan verbonden hoeven te worden. Mocht jij je wel beledigd voelen, dan kan ik altijd mezelf nog verontschuldigen ‘Nee, nee, zo bedoel ik het niet!’. Ik vind het erg leuk om zo met de personages te spelen. Als je er zin in hebt dan kan je hele schattige personages maken die in de avonduren een meesterdief zijn. Het contrast van dit soort eigenschappen is heel erg vermakelijk.

De Sims 3 CAS Demo reviews

Schijnbaar zijn er toch enkele Amerikaanse Apple stores die een demo van De Sims 3 Create a Sim in huis hebben en Sims2King287 heeft in dit topic op de Amerikaanse De Sims 2 BBS er een review van online gezet.

Is it set up like TS2 CAS?

In most ways, yes, in other ways, no. You still have your basic layout, where the skintone, weight, and name are chosen. Then, you go to the construction of the face. Then clothing, and then traits/LTW/favorites. But, with TS3, you can do deeper into the facial construction. You can click on the lips, and adjust the lower lip height, thickness, and width. Same with nearly every part of the face. They added a much more advanced eye editor, so making Asian sims is very easy. A few clicks and I had a great Asian sim.

Make a twin:

I checked out the “make a twin” option. When you are in CAS, below will be icons of the sims you have made so far. In each box with the head shots of the sims, you can click on the sim desired and you can choose from edit, delete and make a twin. It is a picture of two stick figures linked together, like the relationship bubbles. The make a twin produces and exact duplicate of the sim selected. You can choose the twin and tweak the differences. That was a fun tool.
