All in all, however, the problems with The Sims 3 are easily outweighed by the wide variety of funky new gadgets, sharp additions to gameplay, and a pervasive sense that the developers had the fanbase squarely in mind throughout the design process. If EA gets the bugs ironed out with a patch, The Sims 3 will make a lot of converts to an already popular series. And it deserves to.

The other element is that it feels almost unnatural to have so much of life’s detail in a game. The Sims 3 is almost so real that its slightly uncanny. Once the character I created in my likeness starting acting like me I became concerned, and this was possibly the point where I started wondering if the realism simply has gone too far. Though perhaps this is simply The Sims 3 trying to eat away at Second Life. None of this really matters when the game easily eats up hours and hours of your day without you realising that they’ve passed, which seems to be the true test of a solid game these days.

Dit is de eerste dag van mijn eerste iPhone Sim en ik weet zeker dat er nog een boel dagen zullen komen. Ik kan jammer genoeg niet alles vertellen wat het spel te bieden heeft, maar ik weet zeker dat mijn Sim nog veel te doen krijgt, met 73 verschillende behoeftes die je over tijd vrij kan spelen. Hij kan verliefd worden, stelen, vechten, vrienden maken en nog veel meer. Dit is een blijvertje voor mijn iPhone. Je kunt het lekker snel spelen voor een halfuurtje, maar ook makkelijk uren aan één stuk.

Alle eerder genoemde punten bij elkaar opgeteld, heeft de gameplay van The Sims 3 duidelijk aan kracht gewonnen. Het is eindelijk een echt spel geworden, waarbij keuzes maken en opdrachten vervullen belangrijke rollen spelen. Er is meer rekening gehouden met gamers die niet zo van vrijheid houden en een doel nodig hebben, terwijl spelers die liever huizen, Sims en outfits creëren ook ruimschoots aan hun trekken komen.
Er zit ook een video review bij maar aan het muissymbooltje te zien is deze gemaakt met óf een test versie óf een illegale versie, het laatste zal wel niet het geval zijn.

Obviously the Sims 3 is not for everyone, it appeals to a certain audience and hasn’t lost sight of that, but it has expanded the size of this audience. Bringing in new features and another level of depth without sacrificing ease of use is a stunning achievement and will entice the dubious into trying the previously disregarded genre.
The Sims 3” remains the unique experience it has always been, albeit with some welcome streamlining. The changes aren’t enough to make the game completely accessible to all, but mass appeal really isn’t what a proper “Sims” game has ever been about. Fans will certainly appreciate the more focused approach on simulated living, but newcomers will similarly be just as mystified as they’ve always been. Although it remains a “Sims” game through and through, “The Sims 3” is without question the best in the series so far.

You see, I’m stuck in Create-A-Sim mode right now… It’s not due to an error with the game as I could play the other parts of the game. No, my problem is that it’s ADDICTING to me. For the first time, I’m actually creating a Sim and loving it. With the original ‘The Sims’ game, I focused on object creation. I was not much of a skinner. When TS2 rolled out, I attempted to get into CAS but for some reason I could not grasp it. But The Sims 3…once I attempted to create my Sim version of myself I knew I was going to have a blast. There are a few issues I have in which I have however for the most part, creating Sims with the CAS is limitless.
